Moomoo Launches Extended Trading Hours for U.S. Stock Options

Moomoo has launched extended trading hours for U.S.-listed options, giving its clients access to additional premarket and post-close sessions through the Cboe Options Exchange.

The launch provides day-one access to Cboe’s new extended trading sessions for options on 25 stocks and five exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The expansion is designed to give investors more flexibility to respond to market developments and manage portfolio exposure outside traditional U.S. trading hours.

The new schedule includes a premarket session running from 7:30 a.m. to 9:25 a.m. Eastern Time (ET), followed by an additional post-close session from 4:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. ET.

The premarket window allows investors to react to earnings announcements, economic data and developments in international markets before the regular trading session begins. Options traders can use the additional time to hedge existing positions, adjust their portfolios or establish new positions in response to changing conditions.

Meanwhile, the post-close session offers a further opportunity to react to news released shortly after the closing bell.

Rob Hocking, Global Head of Derivatives at Cboe Global Markets, said the extended sessions reflect growing demand among global investors for greater access to U.S. markets and more flexibility in managing risk. He added that Cboe was pleased to provide Moomoo clients with access to the additional trading opportunities.

Moomoo is also combining the expanded access with educational resources and options trading tools. Its Options Engine offers strategy design, simulation and automation features, alongside virtual risk modelling, institutional activity tracking and no-code development tools.

The platform’s Options Strategy Builder allows users to conduct scenario analysis and view potential payoff outcomes, helping them evaluate strategies before committing capital. The extended trading sessions complement these capabilities by providing additional opportunities to act on research as market conditions evolve.

Neil McDonald, CEO of Moomoo U.S., said the expansion gives investors greater control over when they respond to market developments, whether managing existing exposure or pursuing new opportunities. He added that the platform aims to provide both market access and tools to help investors understand their trading decisions.
