Barclays has today announced a landmark partnership with the Scottish Football Association (SFA), coinciding with its multi-million-pound investment in a cutting-edge Glasgow campus. The collaboration reinforces Barclays’ commitment to Scotland through football, entertainment, and community initiatives.
Under the new agreement, Scotland’s national stadium, Hampden Park, will be renamed Barclays Hampden, following in the footsteps of global venues like New York’s Barclays Center. The move strengthens Barclays’ growing presence in sports and entertainment, after earlier partnerships with Co-op Live in Manchester and The O2 in London.
Barclays Announces Landmark Partnership with SFA at Hampden Park
Over the past four years, Barclays has awarded more than 300 grants to Scottish grassroots football clubs via its Community Sport Fund. Barclays Hampden will now serve as a key hub for developing young Scottish talent, while also hosting some of the world’s biggest music acts, including Take That, Metallica, and Calvin Harris in Summer 2026. A dedicated hospitality suite will offer customers and clients an exclusive experience at the stadium.
The partnership also extends to the Men’s and Women’s Scottish Cup and the Barclays Next Gen Girls’ Performance Programme, which supports tailored training and development for young female footballers, promoting equal access to the sport across Scotland.
Tom Corbett, Managing Director of Sponsorship and Client Experience at Barclays, said: “Hampden is a fantastic venue in a fantastic city. This partnership enables us to support the next generation of football fans and players.”
Stephen Flaherty, Scotland Site Lead at Barclays, added: “Scotland is central to our long-term strategy. Partnering with the Scottish FA allows us to continue driving commercial growth, expand resources for Scottish businesses, and invest in local talent.”
Ian Maxwell, Chief Executive of the Scottish FA, said: “Barclays’ investment will have a lasting impact, not only within Barclays Hampden but across the programmes that harness the Power of Football and benefit communities throughout Scotland.”
With more than 25 years of investment in football—from the Premier League and women’s leagues to grassroots initiatives—Barclays continues to drive inclusion, opportunity, and growth for players and fans alike across the UK and Scotland.
