David Barrett, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EBC Financial Group (UK) Ltd, has stepped down from his role after leading the company since 2020.

Barrett was responsible for overseeing the UK entity of EBC Financial, which operates under Financial Conduct Authority regulation. His exit marks a change in leadership across both entities, although no successor news is available as of now.

During his tenure, Barrett guided the company through a phase of international activity, with EBC Financial continuing to build its presence across regulated and offshore jurisdictions. The broker maintains licensed operations in the United Kingdom and Australia, while also running entities in the Cayman Islands, Mauritius, Comoros, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Prior to joining EBC Financial, Barrett built a long career in banking and financial markets. He held the position of Executive Director at AIG Financial Products and Banque AIG London. Earlier in his career, he worked in trading roles at several major institutions, including Chemical Bank, NatWest, Credit Lyonnais, ABN Amro, and Nomura. His experience in derivatives and trading contributed to his role within the retail FX and CFDs sector.

EBC Financial operates as part of the broader EBC Group, which has offices across multiple regions but is primarily run from Hong Kong and mainland China. The firm focuses largely on serving Chinese and other Far East-based traders.

The company has also sought visibility through its partnership with FC Barcelona, acting as the football club’s Official Partner in Foreign Exchange. This sponsorship has been part of its broader brand positioning strategy.

EBC Financial is under the Chinese national Qin Huazheng. The company has not disclosed the reasons behind Barrett’s departure.
