eToro Warns Traders of Increased Volatility Ahead of U.S. Election

eToro and Quiver Quantitative Launch New Investment Portfolios

eToro has announced the launch of three innovative Smart Portfolios in collaboration with investment research firm Quiver Quantitative. These portfolios are going to offer retail investors unique insights based on publicly available government data, focusing on Congressional stock trades and lobbying expenditures.

The new portfolios—Congress-Buys, Lobby-Spending, and DC-Insider—are going to tap into various facets of government transparency, making it easier for investors to base their strategies on public disclosures about political and lobbying activities.

Congress-Buys aims to mimic the investment strategies of US Congress members by including the top 10 stocks recently purchased by lawmakers, ranked by the size of the purchase. This portfolio will initially feature prominent stocks such as Nvidia and Simon Property Group, reflecting recent congressional trading trends around major events like the COVID-19 lockdown and the Ukraine conflict.

Lobby spending focuses on companies that have seen significant increases in federal lobbying expenditures. This portfolio will initially highlight firms such as eBay and Roblox, providing insights into how rising lobbying efforts might correlate with investment opportunities.

DC-Insider targets firms that are not only frequent choices for Congressional trading but also spend heavily on lobbying and hold substantial government contracts. This strategy will include companies like AT&T and Ford Motor, offering a comprehensive view of entities with strong ties to federal decision-makers.

Also, Federal law mandates the disclosure of Congress members’ stock trades, lobbying expenditures, and government contracts. However, synthesizing this information can be challenging for retail investors. The partnership with Quiver Quantitative aims to simplify this process and provide actionable insights through these portfolios.

James Kardatzke, CEO and Co-Founder of Quiver Quantitative, added, “One of our goals is to help retail investors better understand the relationships between Wall Street and Capitol Hill and give them the tools to act on that information. We are excited to bring some of our data and strategies to eToro’s platform and hope it will be a valuable resource for their traders.”

Each portfolio will be rebalanced monthly to reflect the most current data, ensuring that eToro users benefit from the latest insights and trends.
