State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) has announced a strategic partnership with smallcase, India’s largest model portfolio platform. This move follows SSGA’s recent strategic investment in the fintech company during its $50 million Series D funding round.

So, the collaboration aims to expand access to global investment opportunities for Indian investors by featuring SSGA’s SPDR ETFs on the smallcase platform. Leveraging smallcase’s technology and wide user base, SSGA seeks to offer Indian investors seamless exposure to global markets, reinforcing its commitment to India as a priority market.

“India remains a priority market for SSGA, and we are impressed by the innovation smallcase brings to the investment ecosystem,” said Yie-Hsin Hung, CEO of SSGA. “This relationship aligns with our strategy of collaborating with leading wealth technology firms to enhance investor access, choice, and experience. Together, we aim to promote the adoption of wealth-tech and provide global investment solutions more efficiently.”

Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Bangalore, smallcase enables retail investors to access model portfolios—known as “smallcases”—which consist of curated baskets of stocks and ETFs. The platform has seen over $16 billion transacted since its inception, reflecting its popularity among Indian investors seeking simplified, transparent investing.

Vasanth Kamath, Co-founder and CEO of smallcase, commented, “Our strategic relationship with State Street Global Advisors marks a major milestone. Their global expertise and support will accelerate our mission of helping more investors design better financial outcomes. We’re also proud to welcome SSGA as a shareholder.”

Beyond portfolio access, SSGA will support smallcase’s global expansion strategy, exploring synergies with State Street Corporation’s broader wealth services infrastructure.

This partnership marks SSGA’s first direct investment in India’s burgeoning asset and wealth management sector, underscoring the growing global interest in the region’s fintech innovation.
