Sterling Trading Tech to Integrate Fixed Income Securities

Sterling Trading Tech has announced its plans to support fixed-income securities by the end of the second quarter of 2024.

The move comes as Sterling continues to enhance its OMS and Risk & Margin System offerings, marking another strategic step in broadening its product suite to better serve clients. With a focus on extending the coverage of Sterling Risk & Margin (SRM), this development will empower clients with comprehensive insights into their fixed income portfolios.

Currently, SRM offers extensive coverage across various asset classes, including US and international equities and options, futures and futures options, FX, and cryptocurrencies. It provides advanced analytics through a Risk-as-a-Service (RaaS) model, enabling real-time monitoring of client requirements such as Reg T, portfolio margin, and custom house policies. Moreover, clients have access to post-execution risk analytics for US and global equities, options, and futures, along with secure FINRA reporting capabilities.

Upon implementation, Sterling clients will gain visibility into fixed-income securities within the SRM user interface. This feature will enable them to assess the impact of these securities on portfolio values and margin requirements. Additionally, clients can stress-test their fixed-income holdings against interest rate shocks to evaluate their contribution to portfolio risk. Sterling will adhere to standard FINRA margin requirements for fixed-income securities while offering flexibility for overrides at the company or account level.

Brian Saldeen, CFA, Senior Product Manager – Risk & Margin at Sterling, emphasized the importance of comprehensive risk management across all asset classes. He stated, “As yields rise, we see increased exposure from clients in the fixed income space. We understand their need to measure and mitigate risk in a highly regulated environment. Our approach accounts for asset classes, risk exposure, and regulation in one service offering.”

In addition to supporting fixed-income securities, Sterling plans to expand its capabilities to include mutual funds later this year, further enhancing its suite of solutions for financial institutions and trading firms.

With these strategic initiatives, Sterling Trading Tech continues to demonstrate its commitment to empowering clients with cutting-edge technology for effective risk management and trading across diverse asset classes.
