Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) today announced two key appointments to strengthen its leadership team and drive strategic initiatives across its markets.

Phillip Wu has been appointed as Managing Director, Head of Trading Operations, effective 20 October 2025. In this role, Mr. Wu will lead the Trading Operations teams across both the cash and derivatives markets and report directly to Xu Liang, HKEX Head of Operations.

Mr. Wu brings extensive experience in global financial operations. He joins HKEX from HSBC, where he served as Managing Director, Group Chief Control Officer for Global Operations, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, and led Global Procurement. Prior to HSBC, he spent 16 years at J.P. Morgan, rising to the position of Managing Director. He holds a Master of Economics from the University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Commerce from the University of British Columbia.

HKEX Appoints Phillip Wu and Sally Kwok to Senior Leadership Roles

In addition, HKEX announced the appointment of Sally Kwok as Managing Director, Head of Connect, effective 1 January 2026. Ms. Kwok will lead a newly established Connect team within the Markets Division, consolidating HKEX’s Connect-related initiatives across all asset classes. She will report to Gregory Yu, Head of Markets.

Ms. Kwok brings a wealth of experience in trading and market connectivity. She currently serves as Co-Head of Trading, overseeing the cash equities market, the Stock Connect program, client services, and market structure. She has been with HKEX for more than 17 years and previously held senior roles at UBS. Ms. Kwok earned a Master of Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Oxford.

These appointments reflect HKEX’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its market operations and advancing its strategic initiatives across trading and cross-border connectivity. Both Mr. Wu and Ms. Kwok bring deep expertise and leadership experience that will support the exchange’s continued growth and innovation in the dynamic financial landscape.
