Interactive Brokers Group announced that investors in Sweden can now trade global futures and options and access portfolio lending through their Investeringssparkonto (ISK) accounts. The change expands the range of investment tools available within the tax-efficient account structure and allows broader participation in international markets.
So, through the offering, clients can trade options and futures on multiple global exchanges. The capability differs from some domestic platforms in Sweden, where derivatives trading within ISK accounts is typically under restrictions to instruments listed in Nordic markets. Also, by extending access to international derivatives venues, the brokerage firm is positioning the ISK account as a gateway for diversified global strategies.
Interactive Brokers Group Expands ISK Access for Sweden Investors
“Swedish investors should not have to choose between tax efficiency and global market access,” said Kevin Keller, Chief Executive Officer of Interactive Brokers Ireland Limited. “By bringing global derivatives and portfolio lending capabilities into the ISK structure, we are enabling Swedish investors to diversify internationally, hedge strategically, and manage portfolios with greater precision.”
Also, the ISK account has traditionally been associated with equity and exchange-traded fund investing. Its structure combines tax advantages with no contribution limits, making it a commonly used investment vehicle among Swedish retail investors. By incorporating derivatives trading and portfolio lending into the same structure, Interactive Brokers is expanding the types of strategies that can be within ISK accounts.
The brokerage firm also stated that its portfolio lending facility operates within the regulatory framework governing ISK accounts. The lending feature is going to provide additional capital flexibility for investors managing diversified portfolios.
Moreover, Interactive Brokers highlighted several functions available to Swedish ISK account holders. Clients can trade global stocks, exchange-traded funds, mutual funds, options, and futures across multiple international markets. Access to international derivatives exchanges allows traders to diversify strategies and hedge exposures. Investors can also apply for portfolio loans with tiered credit rates starting at 2.335%.
The company added that there are no account opening, maintenance, or transfer charges associated with the ISK offering. Trading is supported through the firm’s mobile, web, and desktop platforms. Existing Interactive Brokers clients can add an ISK account and fund it quickly through the brokerage interface.
